Ruth Marnalse

Ruth Rita Marnalse, 79 passed away May 22, 2022. She was the youngest of 3 children, and loving wife of 13 years to Peter Iaffaldano,
Ruth grew up in Bristol, Connecticut.

She earned her bachelors and nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing and Central Connecticut State University. Then she earned her Masters degree in Public Health from John Hopkins University and became a Public Health nurse. She had a long career with Johnson & Johnson in Florida and traveled the world. She enjoyed trips with her nieces Donna and Kathy. She was a devout Catholic, and served as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered for Hospice, and was a Carmelite. She loved children and was especially fond of animals, always feeding the birds, taking care of her cats and befriending every dog she saw. After she married Pete in and came to Ohio she became a treasured part of the Iaffaldano family. She loved to crochet and made many many prayer blankets for the church to give to cancer patients. She was a devoted friend to many.

Ruth was cherished sister of Frank John Marnalse (Nancy) of Massachusetts and Elizabeth Pirro (late Leonard) of Connecticut; beloved aunt of Donna Pirro and Kathleen Albino (David); stepmother to Jim Iaffaldano (Carol), Ioanella Iaffaldano, Ella Koloini (Kirk), Peter C. Guestbook

I have missed Ruth all my adult life. After Nursing school, our lives took paths in different locations. I was happy that she was one of my bridesmaids in Bill's and my wedding in CT in 1969. She was always a beautiful person, so intelligent, spiritual, accomplished, caring, I look forward to everlasting life with God, where I will hopefully see my husband and all my family and Ruth again, God willing. My most sincere sympathy to Peter, Frank, Elizabeth and families.

Ruth and I met on our first day of High School in “Home Room” in the Freshman Building of Bristol High School in Bristol, CT. Ruth either sat in front of, or, behind me in Home Room during all four years of High School.

We both went to St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Hartford, CT.
Beautiful, courageous, and trusting in the Good Lord to guide her in her career and in life, Ruth continued her Education with a BS & MS in Nursing.

No matter where we lived or where we worked, whether in CT., MA., or FL., we always continued our friendship and conversations just as we had left off. We often shared our cooking & recipes. (I still use her delicious Salad Dressing Recipe).

One constant was that whenever we lived close to each other, we tried to go to church together. I am so grateful we shared moments of Faith. She made me a stronger Catholic. Ruth always spoke of "Well, if it's God’s Will."

I wasn’t really surprised later when I learned that she was a member of the third order of the Carmelite Community.

I also wasn’t surprised when she told me she was engaged to this wonderful man, Pete. They both sat in their same rows, week after week, extending the sign of peace to each other during Sunday Mass. It was just a matter of "being in God's time" that they would get married.

Ruth loved cuddly animals, especially little kittens, and I remember when Pete gave in to her repeated requests to finally keep one.

Ruth, not only gain a loving husband, Pete, she also gained a large loving & caring family. A family who did care tenderly for her in her last years. Thank you all, especially Pete.

Ruth was one loyal, faith filled, compassionate friend, who loved kittens, and Pete, and never, ever, ever, faltered in her faith & trust in Jesus.

Thanks for being my forever constant friend. You earned your reward of Life Everlasting. God’s will be done, Ruth!

Ruth was a close friend of mine. We enjoyed many trips together, especially to Austria in 1971. She was a very caring person and I was so lucky to have her as my friend for so many years.
